KKP Budget Cuts IDR 2.1 Trillion, Minister Trenggono: Efficiency Does Not Target Employee Expenditure Expenditures

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) budget ceiling for this year is set at IDR 4.1 trillion. This budget was agreed in a working meeting (Raker) of Commission IV of the DPR RI on Thursday night, February 13.

Initially, the KKP budget was set at IDR 6.2 trillion, but it was cut to IDR 2.1 trillion. Thus, the remaining IDR 4.1 trillion. This was agreed by Commission IV of the DPR RI due to budget efficiency as stated in Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2025 concerning Expenditure Efficiency in the Implementation of the State Budget and the 2025 APBD which came out on January 22, 2025.

Minister of KP Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said that his party only cut two expenditure budgets, namely the goods expenditure budget which was originally Rp3.36 trillion to Rp1.61 trillion and the original capital expenditure of Rp0.94 trillion to Rp0.57 trillion.

Meanwhile, for personnel spending, Trenggono said there was no change at all. "Efficiency does not target the personnel expenditure budget of IDR 1.9 trillion," Trenggono said as quoted from the KKP official website, Saturday, February 15.

With the remaining budget, Trenggono said, his party is committed to prioritizing the rights of employees. Currently, in his ministry there are 12,426 employees of the state civil apparatus (ASN).

He admitted that his party would try their best to continue to realize the blue economy as planned since last year.

"We maintain a salary budget of 12,426 state civil servants at the KKP, the operations of the head office and all work unit offices in the regions and implement the priority programs of Astacita and Blue Economy," he said.

To note, the KKP plans to realize a blue economy through five policies. Some of them are expanding marine conservation areas, measured fishing based on quota and developing aquaculture in the sea.

Then, the KKP will also create sustainable coastal and land programs, supervise and control coastal areas and small islands and clean up plastic waste in the sea through the participation movement of fishermen or the Sea Love Month.
