Golkar Faction DPR Member: Moving The National Capital So That Jakarta Does Not Always Become A Burden

JAKARTA - The plan to relocate the State Capital (IKN) to East Kalimantan is an important thing to do in order to reduce heavy burdens in various fields in the DKI Jakarta area at this time.

"This is solely to reduce the burden borne by Jakarta. From an ecological point of view, Jakarta has serious problems," said Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives Gde Sumarjaya Linggih as quoted by Antara, Monday, April 19.

He reminded that the environmental aspects in Jakarta are increasingly losing their carrying capacity due to the concept and direction of development. In addition, he said, the potential for disaster in Jakarta is quite high considering its position on the island of Java, which is in a fault or fracture of the earth's body that is experiencing movement.

Seeing this, in the plan to move the IKN to East Kalimantan, Gde Sumarjaya revealed that in the IKN development plan all facilities and infrastructure must be well integrated.

"We want to ensure that in the future everything is well integrated, then also the readiness of the energy, whether Pertamina is ready for the availability of gas, petroleum, and also the strength of PLN in serving the public and also vital offices in the nation's capital," he explained. .

Jakarta, according to him, has already borne the burden of being the capital city of the country, the center of the bureaucracy, as well as the center of economic circulation, the center of trade and other centers.

This, he continued, made Jakarta no longer have nimble steps to pursue infrastructure in order to keep up with the rapidly growing population.

"Seeing also the burdens of Jakarta's condition, the capacity of Jakarta is already heavy. We know that currently floods, land is decreasing, water potential is also lacking, so whether we like it or not, like it or not, we must have a new capital city," he said.

Previously, Minister of National Development Planning / Head of Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa targeted that the DPR could start discussing the Draft Law (RUU) on the Transfer of the State Capital (IKN) by the DPR in May 2021.

"The DPR will be in recess, in May (the DPR) will just enter. Maybe after the recess, the presidential letter will come in. Hopefully it will be faster," said Minister of PPN / Head of Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa during a joint online interview with Antara, at Jakarta, Wednesday 7 April.
