JAKARTA - National entrepreneur Adiguna Sutowo died yesterday, Sunday, April 18 at 04.00 WIB. He is the son of Ibnu Sutowo who is one of the founding figures and former president director of PT Permina which is now the first PT Pertamina (Persero) from 1957-1968.

Adiguna, who was born on May 31, 1958, is the father of Maulana Indraguna Sutowo, President Director of Mugi Rekso Abadi who is also the husband of actress Dian Sastrowardoyo.

Then, who is the figure of Adiguna Sutowo, and what are his businesses? Adiguna Sutowo has business interests covering engineering, shipping, pharmaceuticals, property and hospitality, entertainment, media, automotive, and explosives. Adiguna was involved from a young age in his family's Nugra Santana Group.

After completing his studies in the United States in 1981, Adiguna Sutowo returned to Indonesia to become the President Director of PT Adiguna Mesintani, a distributor of diesel engine generators. This company also produces heavy equipment used in offshore oil drilling activities.

He then managed PT Santana Petroleum Equipment and the shipping company PT Pelayaran Umum Indonesia (Pelumin), where Pertamina chartered several tankers. PT Pelumin owns three tankers with a capacity of 35 thousand tons.

Adiguna is also the captain of the Nugra Santana Group. PT Nugra Santana is a business group (conglomerate) founded by his father, Ibnu Sutowo on May 19, 1973.

In 1993, Adiguna Sutowo founded PT Mugi Rekso Abadi with Soetikno Soedardjo and Ongky Soemarmo (former Executive Director of Tommy Suharto's Humpuss Group).

PT Mugi Rekso Abadi manages radio companies such as I-Radio, Cosmopolitan FM, and several mass media companies plus franchises for Hard Rock Cafe, BC Bar, Zoom Bar, and others.

Pharmaceuticals and properties

Also, Adiguna is the head of the pharmaceutical company PT Suntri Sepuri which was founded in 1998. This company produces tablets, capsules, syrup, and suspension, dry syrup/powder for beta-lactam injection.

Not only that, but Adiguna Sutowo's family also has a property business. In Jakarta, through PT Indobuild Co, this family controls the rights to manage the land around Senayan, which includes hotels, apartments, and a convention center.

The hotels in question are the Hilton Hotel which is now called the Sultan Hotel, the Lagoon Tower Hilton, The Hilton Residence, the Patra Surabaya Hilton, and the Bali Hilton.

There are also Four Seasons Hotels and Four Seasons Apartments in Bali. Adiguna also acquired the Regent Hotel in Kuningan, Jakarta, to become the Four Seasons Hotel.

Adiguna is also known to have an explosives supply company and an explosives storage warehouse on Momoi Island, near Batam.
