JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) said that there are 25 provinces that provide new tax relaxations aka opsen for vehicles.
Opsen yang terdiri dari pajak kendaraan bermotor (PKB) serta penerapan Bea Balik Nama Kendaraan Bermotor (BBNKB) ini sudah mulai berlaku sejak 5 Januari 2025.
The Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics (ILMATE) of the Ministry of Industry, Setia Diarta, said this was important to do to maintain the growth of the automotive sector.
"We have just received information that there are also several delays or reliefs from local governments in the context of delaying PKB and BBNKB operations, of which currently 25 provinces have issued relaxations to PKB and BBNKB officials," said Setia on the agenda titled the Prospects of the 2025 Automotive Industry and Incentive Opportunities from the Government at the Ministry of Industry Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, January 14.
Even so, Setia did not specify which provinces implemented vehicle opportunities relaxation.
The vehicle opsen is regulated in Law (UU) Number 1 of 2022 concerning Financial Relations between the Central Government and the Regional Government (HKPD).
In this law, a large number of PKB and BBNKB options is set at 66 percent each.
The government has also adjusted the rates for PKB and BBNKB due to the presence of opsen.
The maximum PKB tariff was lowered to 1.2 percent from the previous 2 percent, while the BBNKB rate was determined to be a maximum of 12 percent.
In the presentation presented by Setia, the relaxation of opsen in the 25 provinces was based on the Circular Letter of the Minister of Home Affairs number 900.1.13.1/6764/SJ dated December 20, 2024.
In this circular, the local government (Pemda) issues a governor's decision to grant relief or reduction related to PKB's opsen and BBNKB's opsen no later than January 2, 2025.
"Based on the Circular Letter of the Minister of Home Affairs number 900.1.13.1/6764/SJ dated December 20, 2024 regarding the implementation of relief and/or reduction related to the implementation of PKB, BBnKB, PKB Opsen and BBnKB Ops, a relaxation has been carried out by the local government regarding the imposition of the tax," Setia explained in his presentation material.
