Government Opens Opportunities For Oil Imports From Russia, This Is What Pertamina International Refinery Says

JAKARTA - PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional opened its voice regarding opportunities to purchase crude oil from Russia after Indonesia joined as a full member of the BRICS economic forum.

KPI Corporate Secretary, Hermansyah Y. Nasroen emphasized that his party opens the same opportunity for all types of oil that can be managed by refineries effectively and efficiently.

"The procurement process is carried out by complying with all provisions that apply both nationally and internationally related to the procurement of crude oil," Hermansyah told VOI, Monday, January 13.

He continued, actually the crude oil procurement process at KPI was also carried out by meeting the company's Good Corporate Governance standards.

He emphasized that KPI is also one of the essential supply chains to support and contribute to national energy security.

"As a business entity, KPI in procuring feedstocks / raw materials in the form of crude oil is adjusted to the specifications needs of each refinery and also considers the economy of the refinery to adjust to market conditions," said Hermansyah.

Previously, the statement of the opportunity to import fuel from Russia was conveyed by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia. Bahlil said, by adhering to the principle of active free politics, so that Indonesia can open cooperation with any country as long as it does not violate the rules. For this reason, Bahlil said it was legal if Indonesia later bought oil from Russia.

"When we build with BRICS, and then there is an opportunity for us to get oil from Russia, as long as it's in accordance with the rules, and there's no problem, why not?" Bahlil said as quoted on Saturday, January 11.

Moreover, he said, so far Indonesia is still importing oil from Middle Eastern countries so that it is possible to buy oil from Russia.

"To be honest, so far we have imported oil from the Middle East. Maybe, maybe the origin may come from there [Russia] but it's not certain," said Bahlil.
