Bahlil Calls Fuel Supply Safe During Nataru Thanks To Imports

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia officially closed the ESDM Sector Christmas and New Year Command Post which began on December 19, 2024.

Bahlil said this post went well because the government was alert and anticipatory in terms of providing fuel for Christmas and New Year's supplies.

He said his party was quick to speed up imports of fuel oil (BBM) ahead of Nataru so that supply was safe.

The reason is, from August to September, the production of fuel from one of the main refineries in East Kalimantan was disrupted and resulted in fuel production decreasing.

"We anticipate by importing quickly to maintain our national reserves and we will guard them around 18-21 days," said Bahlil at the Oil and Gas BPH Building, Tuesday, January 7.

He said the imports of fuel managed to save Indonesia from a precarious situation that might occur.

"Imagine that day if we don't think about speed in anticipation. I don't know what happened," he added.

Furthermore, Bahlil said, previously there were concerns about the scarcity of LPG supply but Pertamina managed to anticipate it.

"Because at first we lacked volume. So we immediately prepared and what the people feared was that there would be a shortage of LPG during Nataru, Alhamdulillah, everything could be covered well," he said.

On the same occasion, Bahlil also appreciated the performance of the Nataru Task Force in the ESDM sector which served from December 19 to January 7.

Bahlil said that he was also actively monitoring several areas in Indonesia to ensure the distribution of energy runs without obstacles.

"Alhamdulillah, it is extraordinary, anticipations like this are what we must continue to do. Moreover, we will soon enter Eid al-Fitr," said Bahlil.
