JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that Indonesia's trade performance experienced a surplus of USD 5.52 billion during the first quarter of 2021.
The Head of the BPS Suhariyanto told the BPS that this achievement occurred because the export value was greater than the actual import in the same period. He noted that exports in the first three months of 2021 amounted to USD 48.90 billion.
"This figure is better than imports which were recorded at USD 43.38 billion", he said during a virtual press statement, Thursday, April 15.
In detail, the value of Indonesia's exports from January to March 2021 which amounted to USD 48.90 billion was supported by the non-oil and gas sector with a contribution of 94.58 percent or the equivalent of USD 46.25 billion.
According to the province of origin, Indonesia's largest exports in January-March 2021 came from West Java with a value of USD 8.14 billion (16.65 percent), followed by East Java with USD 5.22 billion (10.68 percent) and Riau USD 4.44 billion (9.07 percent).
Meanwhile, from the import side, it was recorded at USD 43.38 billion or grew by 10.76 percent compared to the same period in 2020 which was USD 39.17 billion.
