Airlangga Reveals List Of UnWorn Goods VAT

JAKARTA - The government officially implemented a Value Added Tax (VAT) of 12 percent on January 1, 2025.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the Government still provides exceptions for certain goods and services that are not subject to VAT while other goods and services are still subject to VAT of 11 percent.

"The goods needed by the community are given facilities or 0 percent. So goods such as basic necessities are all VAT-free," he said at a press conference on the Economic Stimulus Package for Welfare, Monday, December 16.

According to Airlangga, for strategic goods and services, the Government will continue to provide exemption facilities from the imposition of VAT, including foodstuffs, transportation sectors, education, health, electricity, water, financial services/insurance.

Airlangga emphasized that this was done to maintain people's purchasing power and ensure the sustainability of certain sectors that had a direct impact on social and economic life.

Airlangga said the government had also implemented exceptions to several VAT objects.
