Realization Of Cheap Gas To New Industry 80 Percent

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Yuliot Tanjung reported, until November 2024 the realization of the volume of cheap gas or Certain Natural Gas Prices (HGBT) for the industrial sector was 87.2 million MMBTU.

"The realization of HGBT for the industrial sector is 87.2 million or 80 percent of the total allocation of 109.5 million MMBTU," he said, quoted on Saturday, December 14.

As for the electricity sector, the realization is 60.1 million MMBTU or 57 percent of the total allocation of 105.342 million MMBTU.

When asked about the distribution of cheap industrial gas that has not yet reached 100 percent, Yuliot reasoned that the data he submitted was data in the third quarter. However, he ensured that the absorption of HGBT by the industry would reach 100 percent by the end of 2024.

"It's only until November. Until the third quarter the realization. We hope that by the end of the year we can optimize the absorption," continued Yuliot.

On the same occasion, he also gave a signal that the HGBT program would continue in 2025. Then regarding the expansion of the cheap gas receiving industry, Yuliot said that his party was still conducting evaluations and discussions with the relevant ministries regarding the urgency of additional industries. Just so you know, until now only 7 industries have enjoyed HGBT, namely the fertilizer industry, petrochemicals, steel, olechemicals, ceramics, glass, and rubber gloves.

"If we look at the expansion of the industry from its urgency first. At least the industrial category is clear. So the energy minister will bring it to the ministerial level coordination meeting first and then it will be decided at the cabinet meeting," said Yuliot.
