JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo opened his voice regarding the plan to provide discount on toll rates ahead of the long Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 holidays (Nataru 2024/2025).

Dody admitted that he would call the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) next week to discuss toll tariff discounts during the Nataru holiday period.

"Not yet (there is a discussion), just next week (next week) I will call the BUJT," said Dody when met by reporters at the PU Ministry office, Jakarta, Friday, December 6.

Dody did not deny that the toll tariff discount during the Religious Holiday period such as Eid or Christmas and New Year's is always there. However, he said, the government could not interfere too much considering that the toll tariff discount mechanism is business-to-business (B2B) and initiative from BUJT.

"That's B2B, we can't interfere too much. That's (initiatives) for each BUJT. Yes, we most want to appeal when we want to meet BUJT," he said.

Dody ensured that he would appeal to BUJT about discounting toll rates at next week's meeting.

The plan, one of the BUJTs to be summoned is PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk. Given, this company is still the market leader of the toll road industry in Indonesia until the first half of 2024.

"That's the longest toll road. Yes, Jasa Marga is the most," he concluded.

For your information, the application of toll road tariff discounts, especially during the holiday season period such as Eid and Christmas/New Year, is an initiative of each Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT).

Thus, there is BUJT that applies discounts and there is also BUJT that does not apply them.

Regarding the discount on toll rates, the government only appealed, because the government could not intervene in BUJT's corporate actions.
