Minister Of Transportation Dudy: 10 Percent Airline Ticket Reduction Can Be Realized Thanks To Collaboration

JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi said the 10 percent reduction in aircraft ticket prices during Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 (Nataru) could be realized thanks to collaboration across ministries and stakeholders.

For information, to accommodate ticket reductions without reducing VAT, it takes the role of airlines, PT. Angkasa Pura Indonesia, PT Pertamina, and Airnav to reduce fuel surcharge, PJP2U, and avtur.

"Hopefully this plane ticket price reduction will be good news for people who will travel during the Nataru 2024/2025 period. We continue to try to prepare as well as possible so that the Indonesian people can celebrate Nataru safely, safely, and comfortably," he said in an official statement, Tuesday, December 3.

The government has decided to lower ticket prices for domestic flight flights during the Nataru period according to President Prabowo Subianto's direct direction to help the community reduce the burden on plane ticket prices.

The adjustment of the plane ticket price will take effect for 16 days on 19 December 2024 to 3 January 2025.

The decrease in the price of airplane tickets for the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 periods (Nataru) received appreciation from President Prabowo Subianto. He said the decrease in ticket prices was a form of the government's commitment to the people.

"Thank you Minister of Transportation, Minister of SOEs and related Ministers. This is because of the good teamwork between us, among brothers and sisters. This is a form of our commitment to always side with the people, side with the national interests," Prabowo said as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube.

In the future, Prabowo said the government would continue to be determined to improve all necessary policies and systems. The goal is to ease the economic burden amidst high demand for air transportation.

Maybe for the first time in how many years we can lower the ticket price of the plane. Usually towards the end of the year or holidays, prices go up. We can lower a little plane ticket to help the community and our people. But we are also vigilant so that the plane ticket reduction does not harm the aviation industry," he said.

Prabowo also emphasized the importance of coordination across ministries and institutions in dealing with the Nataru holiday. He asked that all preparations ranging from infrastructure, transportation, to security, be carried out carefully.

"I am sure and we are able to carry out all the preparations as well as possible. We ensure that people can face the new year safely, in an orderly manner, and smoothly," he said.
