JAKARTA - PT Indonesia Infrastructure Finance (IIF) together with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as the creditor made a field visit / visit site to PT Dumai Tirta Persada (DTP) as a clean water supply company in Dumai City, Riau on November 13-14, 2024.

The site visit was led directly by Chief Risk Officer IIF, Lestari Andaluscia Umardin and Senior Infrastructure Specialist ADB, Kin Wai Chan.

"Currently, the provision of access to clean water is a challenge that requires a comprehensive solution, so that the DTP project becomes a very good solution not only for the surrounding community, but also for industrial interests," said Lestari, in a written statement, Monday, November 25.

Based on information from the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency, the coverage of clean water services in the city of Dumai in 2018 was only 22.17 percent. Meanwhile, according to the Central Statistics Agency, in 2021 the industrial and domestic sectors dominate water demand in the city of Dumai.

Thus, there is a gap between the availability of services and high demand. This is of course a business potential to increase access to drinking water for the people of Dumai city.

This field visit aims to directly monitor the progress of clean water infrastructure development, which is part of the Drinking Water Supply Center (SPAM) project. As of 2024, the total absorption of clean water through DTP has reached 3.19 million cubic meters (M3). In addition, the growth in the number of DTP subscribers is also recorded to continue to increase, where in 2022 it will range from 3,852 customers to 8,165 customers by 2024.

The partnership between IIF and DTP is clear evidence of the synergy between the private sector and the government in realizing sustainable development. Both parties are optimistic that this project will have a significant positive impact on the people of Dumai City and its surroundings.
