Minister Of Trade Budi Santoso Brings Good News, Oilita Prices Are Confirmed To Drop This Week

JAKARTA - Trade Minister Budi Santoso ensured that the price of people's cooking oil, which is currently surging above the highest retail price (HET), could return to normal this week.

"We make sure that starting this week hopefully there will be no more certain areas whose prices will increase," Budi said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 25.

The Trade Minister acknowledged that nationally the price of Oilita had indeed increased, but he said the increase was not too significant.

In addition, Budi emphasized that the increase in the price of Oilita did not occur in all regions.

"In areas, many are normal. Only certain areas," he said.

To reduce the price of Oilita, Budi admitted that he would immediately gather distributors and producers to ensure that their stock was guaranteed to reach retailers.

"As soon as possible, this week we gather and we have informed producers and distributors. We have gathered them to keep the retailers in stock," he said.

Budi admitted, based on the results of monitoring, the price of basic necessities at Prawirotaman Market, Yogyakarta City, was in normal condition.

In fact, the prices of several commodities such as chili actually fell.

"Prices are stable, eggs, then rice, beef, chicken meat, everything is normal. Hopefully this will continue to be normal until Christmas and New Year later and after that, we hope that basic prices will become normal," said Budi.

Previously, the Ministry of Trade noted that until November 15, 2024, there was an increase in the price of Oilita to IDR 17,058 per liter, an increase of 1.05 percent compared to the previous week.

This price is far from HET, which has been set at IDR 15,700 per liter. This increase occurred in 82 regencies/cities in Indonesia.

The Ministry of Trade also said that the price of Oilita in 32 regencies/cities in eastern Indonesia penetrated Rp. 18,000 per liter to Rp. 20,000 per liter.
