Unable To Min In The Waters Of Beriga, PT Timah Boss Admits There Are Obstacles

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Timah Tbk (TINS) Ahmad Dani Virsal admitted that his party had encountered obstacles so that they could not carry out mining activities in Beriga Waters, Central Bangka Regency. As previously reported, the community around the Beriga Waters held a demonstration against PT Timah's plan to mine in the Beriga Waters.

"So this is indeed an update condition that we are facing in Central Bangka, yes, how are we trying to open a new mining area to try to increase the acquisition of Tin ore production," said Ahmad Dani Virsal to the media in Jakarta, Friday, November 22.

Regarding the rejection that occurred, he also admitted that the approach and socialization that had been carried out by PT Timah still needed to be improved. For this reason, he said he was optimistic to continue to approach the community.

"We are making efforts to explain and approach the community and interested parties so that what we are doing can be supported by many parties," he continued.

Previously, quoted from Antara, there were pros and cons of residents against PT Timah Tbk's plan to carry out mining in the Beriga Waters, which is the Mining Business Permit Area (IUP) of PT Timah Tbk.

Chairman of the Employee Association of PT Timah (IKT) Riki Febriansyah stated that PT Timah Tbk always respects and accepts anything that becomes a joint decision. However, PT Timah Tbk also has obligations and is required to contribute to the state and shareholders as business entities to carry out mining business activities above legality that have been fulfilled in accordance with applicable regulations.

"It should be realized together that PT Timah has refrained from maintaining conduciveness. However, as the owner of the IUP and has complied with applicable regulations, carried out responsibilities, on the basis of certainty of doing business. It is fitting that PT Timah can be sovereign at the IUP itself and this is a legal mining, not illegally carried out mining," he said.
