Kadin Supports Lombok To Become A National Lobster Cultivation Center

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) supports Lombok West Nusa Tenggara Province to become a national lobster cultivation center by increasing its productivity so that the potential of cultivation is large enough to be optimized.

"We see the community is quite familiar with how to cultivate lobsters. From the handling of clear seeds in the form of dedering activities to be harvested size consumption and make the economic value higher than just selling seeds. We see the natural factors are also supportive for the cultivation process," said Vice Chairman of the Kadin for Marine Affairs and Fisheries Yugi Prayanto quoted from Antara, Monday, April 12.

According to him, important additional infrastructure needs to be built so that this cultivation process can be properly successful until it is ready to be absorbed by the market in addition to also needing to be supported by adequate facilities and infrastructure,

"They understand how to manage floating net cages, but when faced with the development of research, access to capital, market access even for export, it is also necessary to provide serious assistance," yugi said.

He hopes the government can seek subsidies if used is feed from companies so that with a certain size the price can be more competitive.

"We expect with cultivation, lobster survival rate is getting better in the future," said Yugi.

Yugi also appreciated the achievements of farmers, local and central governments who have proven the success of lobster cultivation in the Lombok area.

As is known, throughout 2020 lobster production in East Lombok reached 82,568 kg. While the number of farmers reached 1,809 divided into 147 groups of cultivators.

"The income of farmers is quite promising, even some can earn Rp250 million in a single harvest. I am quite optimistic that the development of our lobster cultivation will be better and will be better than Vietnam which has been quite successful in lobster cultivation," he said.
