JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) is checking the readiness of toll roads for the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays.

"Alhamdulillah, today we are checking the preparations for Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 and here I see the readiness of Jasa Marga that was explained earlier, Alhamdulillah, hopefully, in my opinion, it is very proper, meaning it is ready and hopefully what was predicted earlier for vehicle density from last year that I got from Jasa Marga, hopefully it has been predicted well," said Deputy Minister of PU Diana Kususmastuti, quoting Antara.

According to Diana, all parties starting from the Ministry of Public Works, Jasa Marga, and other Toll Road Business Entities to the police and the Ministry of Transportation must collaborate to support smooth traffic flow during the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 periods.

"Earlier it was conveyed that on the 21st (December) there will likely be vehicle congestion until the 4th (January), those are the peaks. Hopefully, it can be anticipated where the congestion occurs," she said.

She also conveyed that the gap between the Christmas and New Year holidays this year and the 2025 Eid holiday is not long.

"If we look at the gap between Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 and Eid in 2025 is not long, so what we fix for Christmas and New Year this year can still be used later in 2025 before Eid," said Diana.

Deputy Minister of Public Works Diana Kususmastuti conducted a review of the Trans Java Toll Road in preparation for Christmas and New Year this year, one of which was by visiting the Jasamarga Tollroad Command Center.

On that occasion, Operation and Maintenance Management Group Head of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk Atika Dara Prahita said that Jasa Marga predicts that the peak of the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year homecoming flow will occur on Saturday, December 21, 2024.

Jasa Marga predicts that traffic leaving Jakarta will pass through four main toll gates (GT), namely to the east via the Cikampek Utama GT, the Kalihurip Utama GT.

Then to the South for holidays usually to Ciawi, Bogor via GT Ciawi. Then for those heading west to Merak via GT Cikupa.

Jasa Marga predicts that the traffic for the homecoming flow during the Christmas and New Year holidays for this year through the four main GTs will be around 3,057,246 vehicles, an increase of 17.9 percent compared to normal traffic.

As for the return flow, Jasa Marga predicts 3,002,175 vehicles, an increase of 21.7 percent from normal traffic conditions.
