JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) through the Directorate General of Human Settlements is completing the construction of the Wosusokas Regional Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) in Wonogiri Regency, Central Java.
Deputy Minister of Public Works Diana Kusumastuti said that regional-scale SPAM development is prioritized to meet domestic needs so that people enjoy quality drinking water and increase access to safe drinking water while at the same time supporting improving public health related to clean water.
"Currently, Wosusokas Regional SPAM construction work has reached a progress of 93.77 percent and is ready to be inaugurated in early 2025," Diana said in a written statement, Wednesday, November 13.
The construction of the Wosusokas Regional SPAM itself has begun to be carried out in stages since 2023 in the form of a production and distribution unit with an investment value of IDR 1.3 trillion.
The production unit's work includes the construction of Gajah Mungkur's Water Processing Installation (IPA) with a capacity of 750 liters per second at a cost of Rp244.8 billion.
In addition to the three IPA units each with a capacity of 250 liters per second, the budget is also used for the construction of a reservoir of 3,500 cubic meters, operational offices, scadas/control rooms, chemical house buildings, generator houses, pump houses, workshops, B3 waste buildings, 4 units of Slude Drying Bed (SDB), guard houses, guard posts and prayer rooms.
The construction of Gajah Mungkur's IPA itself was carried out by contractor PT Adhi Karya with progress which has reached 98.36 percent.
Next, 4 distribution units were also carried out, namely the construction of a public distribution network (JDU) Segmen 1 and distribution reservoirs to serve 8,000 house connections (SR) in two sub-districts of Wonogiri Regency.
This package was carried out by contractor PT Brantas Abipraya at a state budget fee of Rp. 235.6 billion and the progress reached 92.89 percent.
Then, JDU Segmen 2 and distribution reservoirs with a benefit of 4,000 SR for two sub-districts in Wonogiri Regency. This package was carried out by PT Wika-Gemilang (KSO) with a value of Rp. 289.6 billion and construction progress reached 91.17 percent.

The raw water source for the Wosusokas Regional SPAM, which is currently managed by PT Tirta Utama, Central Java (Perseroda) comes from the Gajahmungkur Reservoir, which is channeled through the Silo Intake which has been carried out by the Directorate General (Ditjen) of Water Resources (SDA) of the Ministry of Public Works in 2016-2018.
