JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) encourages the use of domestic products (PDN) and the empowerment of local contractors in infrastructure development projects.

As for the 2024 Fiscal Year (TA), the Ministry of Public Works targets the use of GDP of 95 percent of the budget ceiling of IDR 158.64 trillion.

"The realization as of November 5, 2024 reached Rp110.78 trillion," explained PU on its official Instagram account @kementerianpu, quoted Thursday, November 7.

PU Minister Dody Hanggodo assessed that the massive use of domestic products in infrastructure development not only supports economic growth, but also creates jobs and encourages improving the quality of local products. Thus, free from dependence on imports.

"We continue to work with Indonesian construction stakeholders or universities to develop technology and local materials to reduce imports as much as possible," he said.

The use of PDN is encouraged, one of which is to tighten the purchase permit for imported products through the permission of the authorized official, including through the Minister of Public Works for the value of import procurement of more than IDR 1 billion.

Therefore, the implementation of the 2024 Indonesia Construction (KI) held by the Ministry of Public Works is expected to support the Proudly Made in Indonesia Movement, among others, through exhibitions of local products, partnerships and collaborations, innovations and technology as well as training and empowerment of MSMEs.
