Trigana Plane Issues Fire At Sentani Airport, Ministry Of Transportation Ensures No Casualties

The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has confirmed that there were no casualties in the incident of the Trigana Air PK YSC type Boeing 737-300 aircraft that emitted a fire. The incident occurred at Sentani Airport, Jayapura, Papua.

"The incident of the Trigana Air PK YSC type Boeing 737-300 (which emitted a fire) at 11.30 WIT at Sentani Airport was confirmed that there were no casualties," said Acting Director General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation Lukman F. Laisa in an official statement, Tuesday, November 5.

Lukman said the entire crew and passengers had been evacuated safely.

He said the crew and passengers had been flown back in different planes.

"Furthermore, it was flown to the destination, namely Wamena by another plane, namely PK YRA," explained Lukman.

For your information, the Trigana Air plane bound for Sentani (DJJ) - Wamena (WMX) carrying 121 passengers and eight crew on board experienced an incident of thick smoke ejection from the right engine after the plane carried out Pushback and Start Engine.

Lukman said, because of panic, passengers opened the left (central and front) emergency door and saved themselves.

Receiving the incident report, Lukman continued, Sentani Airport officers had moved quickly to make rescue and evacuation efforts.

All passengers were evacuated and then flown to Wamena Airport by another Trigana Air plane, namely PK YRA.

"Currently, the Trigana Air plane that experienced the incident has been towing to the apron and parked at the R2 parking stand. The KNKT in Sentani is conducting an investigation," said Lukman.
