Erick Thohir: Terminal 4 Project Soetta Airport Canceled

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir revealed that the construction of Terminal 4 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Soetta), Tangerang, Banten, was canceled.

Just for information, the plan to build terminal 4 of Soetta Airport has been sticking out since 2018. Where, this project is estimated to cost almost Rp. 14 trillion.

"Indeed, we have to make sure that all projects are efficient, the benchmarks are clear, not a waste. That's why we decided Terminal 4 to be canceled," said Erick after a working meeting with Commission VI of the DPR, at the Parliament Complex, Monday, November 4.

Based on the review, continued Erick, Soetta Airport only needs improvements at terminals 1, 2, and 3.

Especially improvements to increase passenger capacity at a cost of IDR 1 trillion.

"It turns out that at a cost of only Rp. 1 trillion, not Rp. 14 trillion, terminal 1, 2, 3 we can maximize by improving the lane, and also the spaces that were previously possible to be maximized, we are trying to do that," explained Erick.

Erick said the Ministry of SOEs continues to strive to make efficiency in projects carried out by state-owned companies.

This is to reduce the chances of fraud in the projects being carried out.

"So we are trying to make efficiency so that all the projects in SOEs are really measurable. Don't be SOEs just thinking about projects, but in the end there will be corruption cases, that's what we've been trying to handle over the past 5 years," he said.
