Reportedly Sritex Became A State-Owned Enterprise, Airlangga Said It Had Not Been Discussed Further

JAKARTA - PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk or Sritex (SRIL) was declared bankrupt based on the decision of the Semarang Commercial District Court, Case number 2 / Pdt.Sus- Homologation / 2024 / PN Niaga Smg.

The decision made Sritex look for various solutions to keep the company operating. However, there are rumors circulating that Sritex will be used as a State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN).

Responding to this, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto emphasized that the Government had not discussed this further.

"We haven't talked about it yet," he said after the opening of the 2024 ISEF, at the JCC, Wednesday, October 30.

Airlangga said that in saving from bankruptcy, namely by ensuring that factory activities continue.

Airlangga said that the Sritex case had been processed in court and the curator had been appointed, so the Government would speak to the curator.

"Yesterday, I spoke with the Director General of Customs and Excise that going concern or factories should continue. Therefore, exports will continue," he said.

Then for the next stage, Airlangga said Sritex had submitted a cassation process to the Supreme Court (MA) to cancel the Semarang Commercial District Court (PN) decision.

However, Airlangga hopes that the process can be completed quickly based on applicable legal regulations.

"Of course the next stage is that there is an cassation process, and we just follow the ongoing legal process. But we still keep it from stopping factories," he said.

Previously reported, the Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita opened his voice about PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk (SRIL) aka PT Sritex which was declared bankrupt by the Semarang Commercial District Court (PN).

Agus said President Prabowo Subianto had ordered four ministries to immediately take steps to save workers working at the giant Indonesian textile company.

The four ministries include the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin), the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu), the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) and the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) who will review the appropriate scheme for this.

"President Prabowo has ordered the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Finance, the Minister of SOEs and the Minister of Manpower to immediately review several options and schemes to save Sritex," Agus said in a written statement, Friday, October 25.

Because according to Agus, saving Sritex workers from termination of employment (PHK) is the government's priority at this time.

"The government will immediately take steps so that the company's operations continue and workers can be saved from layoffs. These rescue options and schemes will be delivered as soon as possible, after the four ministries have finished formulating a rescue method," he said.
