The Ministry of Public Works (PU) is accelerating the completion of the construction of two dams in Aceh, namely the Rukoh Dam and Keureuto.

The two dams are designed to increase agricultural irrigation capacity, support flood control and provide raw water and electrical energy for the people of Aceh.

PU Minister Dody Hanggodo said the construction of this dam was a concrete step by the Ministry of Public Works in supporting Asta Cita Presiden Prabowo-Deputy President Gibran, namely strengthening the national security defense system and encouraging the nation's independence through food self-sufficiency.

Then, the Keureuto Dam in North Aceh Regency which has a capacity of 215.94 million cubic meters and an inundation area of 896.6 hectares.

In the future, this dam is expected to serve irrigation needs on an area of 9,455 hectares, providing raw water of 0.5 cubic meters per second and producing 6.34 MW of electrical energy.

The Keureuto Dam was built since 2015 at a state budget cost of IDR 2.7 trillion. The physical progress of the construction of this dam has reached 96.69 percent.
