The Use Of Biodiesel Makes Indonesia Save Foreign Exchange Up To IDR 120.54 Trillion

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources claims that the use of biodiesel can save the country's foreign exchange of up to IDR 120.54 trillion from biodiesel realization in 2023.

Head of the Communications, Public Information Services and Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Agus Cahyono Adi revealed that the realization of the use of biodiesel in recent years has shown an upward trend.

"The economic benefits of biodiesel realization in 2023, state foreign exchange savings amounted to Rp120.54 trillion," said Agus, Monday, October 28.

In addition, there was also an increase in the added value of CPO to biodiesel by Rp. 15.82 trillion, as well as employment of more than 11,000 people (off-farm) and 1.5 million people (on-farm).

Just so you know, based on data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, in 2021 the realization of biodiesel will reach 9.3 million KL and in 2022 the realization of biodiesel will reach 10.45 million KL.

Meanwhile, in 2023 it will increase to 12.2 million KL with the mandatory B35 starting in August 2023.

Agus said the trend of increasing biodiesel realization shows the government's commitment and seriousness in reducing fossil fuel dependence and increasing energy resilience by utilizing biodiesel, whose mixed ratio will also continue to be increased.

"Now B35, will be increased to B40, then B50 to B60," said Agus.
