Ready To Support Prabowo's Vision, Erick Thohir Asks SOEs To Work Harder And Transparently

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir admitted that he was ready to carry out the mandate given by President Prabowo Subianto. Erick again won the trust to address the Ministry of SOEs for the period 2024-2029.

As an assistant to the president, Erick ensured that SOEs were ready to support President Prabowo Subianto's vision. Therefore, he asked SOEs to work even harder than before.

"The important thing is that when inaugurated there is a mandate that is entrusted to be loyal to the president and also ensure that the program can run well for his people according to his vision. This means that we at the Ministry of SOEs must work even harder for professionalism and transparency," Erick said when he arrived at the Ministry of SOEs office, Jakarta, Monday, October 21.

Erick also ensures that he will maintain Prabowo's vision by continuing to improve collaboration with the private sector as well as MSMEs. Including continuing the BUMN downsizing program to the remaining 30 SOEs to increase the effectiveness and competitiveness of SOEs in the future.

"With this open market, the balance occurs, between the private sector, MSMEs and also investment from within and outside the country. This is what we are trying to balance," said Erick.

In addition, Erick emphasized that taking sides with MSMEs is also a priority for the Ministry of SOEs. He said MSMEs are a big foundation for the Indonesian economy.

Erick said that SOEs are also committed to encouraging an increase in the number of Indonesian entrepreneurs who are currently only around 3.4 percent or lagging behind other countries which reach five percent to eight percent.

"This is what I think the role of BUMN will continue to encourage how to create entrepreneurs. Medium companies will advance to class, with private sectors and we will also open cooperation," said Erick.

Not only that, Erick said SOEs would also implement Prabowo's commitment to achieving food self-sufficiency targets. He said SOEs are ready to strengthen the national food security ecosystem which is more integrated in the future.

"Because we have fertilizer, the fertilizer must be on time, on target, especially when there will be digitization. Then for renewable energy, I think we have invested a lot now, both Pertamina and PLN, because we know that in that direction is inevitable," he explained.

Erick said the Ministry of SOEs would also continue the acceleration of downstreaming which was Prabowo's vision. Including, ensuring that the transformation of SOEs will continue, both in terms of professionalism, transparency, and cleaning up SOEs.

"Anyway, the president has a vision, we as assistants must be loyal, must be able to carry out his vision according to his promise to serve the people," said Erick.
