Budi Santoso was officially appointed as Minister of Trade (Mendag) in the Red and White Cabinet in the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka government.

Budi himself is a career official at the Ministry of Trade. His last position in the ministry was the Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Ministry of Trade era of Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas).

The plan is for Prabowo to inaugurate the ministers of the Red and White Cabinet on Monday, October 21 at 10.00 WIB at the State Palace, Jakarta.

"Budi Santoso as Minister of Trade," Prabowo said when announcing the names of the ministers of the Red and White Cabinet, at the State Palace, Jakarta, quoted Monday, October 21.

The man who was born on February 9, 1968, graduated from Bachelor (S1) of Communication Science and Sebelas Maret University.

Then, he continued his education as a Magister of Administrative Sciences (S2) from the University of Indonesia.

After that, Budi also pocketed a doctorate (S3) in Communication Science at Sahid University.

Budi himself is not new to the Ministry of Trade. He has had quite a long career by occupying several positions in the Ministry of Trade.

In 2010, Budi served as Head of Sub-Directorate for Creative Economy at the Directorate General of National Export Development Unit. Then, he was promoted to the Trade Attache of the Indonesian Embassy in New Delhi in the period 2012 to 2016.

After returning from India, Budi was appointed Head of the Program and Cooperation Section at the Directorate General of National Export Development Unit.

Then, Budi also briefly occupied the Head of the Financial Bureau from June 2020 to September 2020. Then, from December 2020 to December 2022 Budi was appointed as Head of the Indonesian Trade and Economic Office (KDEK) in Taipei.

It did not stop there, Budi's career continued as Director General (Dirjen) of Foreign Trade from December 2022 to August 2024.

After that, on August 14, 2024 Budi was appointed Secretary General of the Ministry of Trade by the Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan or Zulhas.

In addition to the Ministry of Trade, Budi also serves as President Commissioner of the Food SOE Holding, ID FOOD which was stipulated through the Decree of the Minister of SOEs No. SK 174/MBU/07/2023.
