BI Lampung: Q3-2024 Inflation Decreases as Food and Beverage Prices Maintained

JAKARTA - The Lampung Province Bank Indonesia (BI) Representative Office stated that the decline in inflation in the third quarter of 2024 occurred due to controlled prices of food and beverage groups in its region.

"Inflation in Lampung Province in the third quarter decreased and was maintained within the target. Annually, inflation in September decreased to 2.16 percent, lower than the previous quarter of 2.84 percent. In line with the decline in inflation in all districts and cities that record the consumer price index," said Deputy Head of the Lampung Province BI Representative Office Achmad P Subarkah as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, October 19.

He said that the decline in inflation in the third quarter of 2024 was supported by controlled prices of food and beverage groups, especially shallots with a decreasing inflation contribution of 0.18 percent.

Then, garlic decreased its inflation contribution by 0.08 percent, and broiler chicken decreased its inflation contribution by 0.07 percent due to the normalization of demand after the national religious holiday period.

"On the other hand, based on the disaggregation, there are 10 commodities with the largest contribution to inflation in the third quarter of 2024 originating from goods and services to the core inflation group, including ground coffee with an increase in inflation contribution of 0.32 percent, academies or universities with an increase of 0.27 percent, gold jewelry an increase of 0.20 percent, granulated sugar 0.11 percent, and house contracts an increase in inflation contribution of 0.08 percent," he said.

He continued, spatially, inflation in districts and cities recording the consumer price index decreased.

The decrease was in Mesuji Regency in the third quarter, the consumer price index became 2.84 from the second quarter of the consumer price index of 3.4.

Then East Lampung Regency consumer price index in the third quarter was recorded at 2.57 from the previous 4.06, Metro City consumer price index in the third quarter was 1.86 or decreased from the previous quarter of 2.37, and Bandarlampung City consumer price index was 1.92 in the third quarter 2024 decreased from the previous value of 2.25.

"And our commitment to supporting food price stability in Lampung Province is carried out by presenting inflation shops to support the intensification of market operations and the availability of food commodity supplies at affordable prices," he added.

In addition, BI also prepared an inflation control transportation car (TOP) to support the expansion of the reach of market operations.
