JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Civil Aviation welcomes the realization of direct flights from Incheon Airport in South Korea to Hang Nadim Airport in Batam (PP).

The opening of this route is expected to increase tourist visits to Batam.

The Jeju Air flight route from Incheon to Batam was on October 16, 2024 last night. This inaugural flight is part of the integral of the implementation of the Government and Business Entity Cooperation Project (KPBU).

Plt. Director General of Civil Aviation Lukman F. Laisa hopes that the opening of this flight route can increase tourist arrivals.

"Then investment and trade, as well as strengthening cultural exchange between countries," he said in an official statement, Thursday, October 17.

This Incheon-Hang Nadim Batam (PP) flight operates using a B737-800 aircraft that can carry passengers with a maximum capacity of 189 passengers, with flight schedules three times a week.

Lukman expressed his appreciation to all parties for their support so that this Incheon-Hang Nadim Batam (PP) direct flight can operate.

"On this happy day, I would like to express my appreciation to all parties who have contributed to the launch of this flight, especially to Jeju Air, Lion Air Group and also PT. Batam International Airport as the manager of Hang Nadim International Airport, which has provided the best support and facilities," said Lukman.

The Ministry of Transportation hopes that this flight route will be sustainable and profitable for both countries and flight operators in increasing accessibility, encouraging the arrival of tourists, investment, and trade, as well as strengthening cultural exchanges between the two countries.
