Budget Telan Rp29.29 Billion, KPUPR And Sleman Regency Government Turn Mrican Area To Habitable

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has completed the arrangement of the Mrican Area in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY).

The regional arrangement was carried out in April-December 2023 with a budget of Rp29.29 billion.

Head of the DIY Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW), Directorate General of Human Settlements, Jonny Zainuri Echsan, said that the work to improve the quality of the Mrican slum area was a synergy from various parties.

"This is a collaboration between BPPW DIY and the Sleman Regency Government, the DIY Provincial Government and the Yogyakarta Palace," said Jonny in a written statement, quoted Tuesday, October 15.

Jonny added, in the arrangement of this area there was a change in status from village treasury land (TKD) to Sultan Ground (SG).

"Kelurahan menyerahkan haknya dari TKD yang seharusnya bisa digunakan sebagai PAD desa menjadi SG yang bisa dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat," katanya.

The Ministry of PUPR through the BPPW DIY of the Directorate General of Human Settlements in 2023 will handle 21.16 hectares of slums in Mrican, which was originally a row of dense settlements with narrow alleys on the banks of the Gajahwong River.

The collaboration was carried out with the Sleman Regency Government through the arrangement of the building to be more regular.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of PUPR is improving infrastructure by building river windows, inspection roads and the environment, drainage, bridges, Communal Wastewater Processing Installation (IPAL), Waste Processing Sites with the 3R Concept (TPS3R), fire protection, street furniture, urban farming, micro library, flood monitoring posts and public open spaces.

It is known, out of a total of 21.16 hectares of slum areas, the Ministry of PUPR organizes 5 hectares of the area to be habitable.

Meanwhile, Head of the Physical and Infrastructure Division of the Sleman Bappeda Dona Saputra Ginting said the willingness of the Mrican community to improve life was very strong. This is what moved the Sleman Regency Government to design and be captured by the State Budget.

"This is not easy, we have been looking for funding ways to improve the quality of the Mrican and Pringwulung areas. This is answered by the entry of BPPW DIY to organize the area," he concluded.
