JAKARTA - Hotel occupancy in Solo, Central Java, reached 100 percent during the XVII 2024 National Paralympic Week (Peparnas).
Deputy Chairperson of the IT Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Surakarta Gusti Muklis said hotel occupancy in Solo reached 100 percent, obtained during the first two weeks of October.
"This is very positive for the hotel sector in Solo, especially hotels that host Peparnas activities," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, October 10.
He said that only a few five-star hotels were used as arenas or match locations.
However, almost all hotels in Solo and its surroundings felt the positive impact of the implementation of the four-year sports activity.
"Many families, relations, and supporters of athletes come to Solo, so that hotels that do not become arenas also have a positive impact on this national event," he said.
In fact, he said, several two and three-star hotels in Solo, which were not the main locations for activities, continued to experience an increase in occupancy of up to 75-80 percent on October 6-13.
According to him, this condition is good news for the hotel sector considering that during the last three months there has been a decrease in occupancy.
"There was a slight decline because many events had been held at the beginning of the year. However, this decline paid off this month, where the first two weeks of hotel occupancy could reach 100 percent," he said.
General Manager of Grand Mercure Solo Baru Djati Asmara Wijaya said that during Peparnas activities, the hotel occupancy was 97 percent.
"Increased from the previous 70-80 percent. This increase has occurred since the arrival of athletes, officials, and supporters from various provinces who participated in Peparnas," he said.
