BI Values Consumer Confidence Index In September 2024 Stays Strong

JAKARTA - The Bank Indonesia Consumer Survey in September 2024 indicated that the Consumer Confidence Index (IKK) for economic conditions was maintained. This is reflected in the September 2024 Consumer Confidence Index (IKK) of 123.5. Down from the previous month at the level of 124.4.

Executive Director of the Communication Department, Ramdan Denny Prakoso, said that consumer confidence in September 2024 was maintained by the Current Economic Condition Index (IKE) and the Consumer Expectation Index (IEK) which are at an optimistic level.

"IKE is maintained, especially driven by the Employment Availability Index. Meanwhile, IEK is maintained driven by optimism in all components of its formation," he said in his statement, Wednesday, October 8.

Ramdan said the Current Economic Condition Index (IKE) and the September 2024 Consumer Expectation Index (IEK) were recorded at 113.9 and 133.1, respectively.

Meanwhile, in September 2024, consumer confidence was observed to remain optimistic in all expenditure categories. The increase in IKK was recorded in respondents with expenditures of IDR 3.1 to IDR 4 million.

Based on age, IKK increased in the age group 31 - 40 years and over 60 years. Spatially, IKK increased in some cities surveyed, the highest in Medan City (9.0 points) followed by Denpasar (5.8 points) and Surabaya (3.6 points).

Ramdan said that the maintenance of IKE September 2024 was mainly driven by the Employment Availability Index which increased by 0.6 points to 108.2.

The Current Income Index and the Old Goods Purchase Index (Durable Goods) are also maintained in optimistic areas, 122.4 and 111, 2. Spatially, some cities recorded an increase in IKE, the largest in the city of Surabaya (7.8 points), Mataram (5.5 points), and Ambon (5.0 points).

Meanwhile, the strong IEK is supported by the optimism of all its components, namely expectations of income, availability of jobs, and business activities, each recorded at 138.2, 131.1, and 130.1. spatially, some cities recorded an increase in IEK, the largest in Medan City (14.9 points), followed by Denpasar (8.2 points) and Pangkal Pinang (3.0 points).
