PTPP Completes East Java Multipurpose Port Project Terminal Development

JAKARTA - PT PP (Persero) Tbk (PTPP) has completed the East Java Multipurpose Ose Terminal Port Project and held a Grand Opening event in collaboration with the East Java Multipurpose Terminal (EJMT), a subsidiary of the International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) which manages port terminals in 19 countries, on Wednesday 2 October.

The event was attended by Executive Vice President ComplianceOfficer ICTSI Christian Razon Gonzalez, CEO of EJMT Patrick Chan, President Director of PT Eastern Logistics David Lim, Senior Vice President of Infrastructure Division 2 PTPP Pande Ketut Gede Karmawan GM Operational Infrastructure Division 2 PTPP Indra Jadi Simanjuntak, as well as representatives from KSOP Tanjung Pakis and his staff.

The East Java Multipurpose Terminal Development project is a foreign private project undertaken by PTPP and has a contract value of Rp. 767 billion. The construction implementation period is divided into two parts, namely the first part which includes dredging work with a volume of 1,800,000 m3 and the construction of a 180m jetty and Container Yard covering an area of 0.9 Ha for 16 months, as well as the second part which includes the construction of a 120-meter jetty and a 0.6vHa container yard covering an area of 0.6vHa for 18 months.

The construction process for this project applies an innovation method, one of which is applied to stone column work at sea which has proven to be one of the authentic innovations and is able to be a solution to the challenge of natural factors in lamongan waters that have high waves during the annual period of the west wind, so that this project can be completed by PTPP on time on September 3, 2024 while still prioritizing quality and safety.

In the future, the EJMT Port is expected to support economic progress in the manufacturing sector, raw materials, and PTPP to complete the East Java Multipurpose Port Project for processed goods terminals, such as frozen products, food, as well as steel and building products, especially in East Java and surrounding areas.

In his remarks, East Java Multipurpose Terminal (EJMT) CEO Patrick Chan expressed his highest appreciation to PTPP for completing this project on time and with excellent quality.

"I really appreciate the performance of PTPP in completing this project very well. With the implementation of this Grand Opening, EJMT invites colleagues to work together and make this port an alternative in running the business sector of all of you. Infrastructure and supporting equipment are ready to be used, and I need to convey that this port is equipped with two units of Harbour Mobile Crane (HMC) with the largest capacity in East Java," he said.

Responding to this, Indra Jadi Simanjuntak as the GM Operational Division of Infrastructure 2 PTPP also thanked EJMT for entrusting PTPP as the main contractor of this project and for the collaboration between competent teams.

"We feel proud to have been trusted as the main contractor in the construction of the East Java Multipurpose Terminal Phase 1A. Good collaboration between EJMT as an Employer, PT Haskoning Indonesia as an Employer Representative, PTPP as the main contractor, as well as other parties such as KSOP and the local community, is the main factor in the success of the implementation of this project," said Indra.

PTPP President Director Novel Arsyad is also proud in the completion of the East Java Multipurpose Terminal Port project where this project is the largest multipurpose port with harbourcrane in East Java and one of the foreign private projects that has been completed by PTPP.

"The EMTJ multipurpose port project in Lamongan is one proof that PTPP has succeeded in completing its mandate not only on the construction of National Strategic Projects (PSN) in Indonesia or projects with APBN sources only, but PTPP has also completed projects with private sources with good quality, timely, and zero accidents. With this completion as well, PTPP has succeeded in proving that the standard quality of project work is in accordance with the standard owners of foreigners, "explained Novel.

Furthermore, Novel also emphasized that with existing experience, in the future PTPP will continue to improve competence to increase competitiveness and be committed to completing projects that have been mandated to the Company completely as a form of the Company's responsibility.

"With this competence, PTPP is optimistic in obtaining and completing projects that are mandated, both national strategic projects and private projects. Also, we hope that this port in the future can benefit all parties and contribute to the progress of trade and the Indonesian economy," concluded Novel.
