JAKARTA - Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) and its subsidiary, PT Semen Gresik, won the IDI 4.0 Award in 2024 from the Ministry of Industry for the application of Industry-based technology 4.0 to optimize the production activities of the GIS factory in Tuban and the PT Semen Gresik factory in Rembang, which has proven successful in increasing the achievement of the Company's operational excellence.

The award was received by the Director of Operations of SIG, Reni Wulandari and the President Director of PT Semen Gresik, Muchamad Supriyadi at Ballroom The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta Pacific Place, on Tuesday, October 1.

The Ministry of Industry gave the IDI 4.0 of 2024 Award to 24 companies and the Industrial Technology Rintisan Award (RINTEK) to 21 DETEK Titles, as a form of Government appreciation to industry players who are highly dedicated in the creation and optimization of industrial technology, both technology in general and technology in the Industry 4.0 sector.

GIS won the IDI 4.0 Award in the category of Sustainable Technology for the use case Operational Excellence & Sustainable Cement Plant through the application of Advanced Process Control technology by PXP, Quality Control by QCX Rabolic, and Waste Heat Recovery Power Generation (WHRPG), based on Artificial Intelligent, Machine Learning, Digital Mining Command and the Preventive Control Model, at Tuban Factory, East Java.

Meanwhile, PT Semen Gresik won an award in the same category for the 'KOKOH' Integrated Digitization case (Energy Control, Resources Optimization, Data Quality, Real-time Observation, and Analytic Results) through the development of Realtime Dashboard & Reporting, Smart Maintenance & Production, and Self Optimization at the Rembang Factory, Central Java.

Director of Operations SIG, Reni Wulandari, expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of Industry for the award of INDI 4.0 of 2024 which was given, as well as appreciation to all teams at SIG and PT Semen Gresik for being adaptive in technological transformation. This award is an acknowledgment of the success of SIG in carrying out the transformation towards Industry 4.0 as a whole.

The implementation of Industry-based technology 4.0 has proven successful in increasing productivity in production activities with a more efficient use of energy. Not only contributing to cost efficiency and emission reduction, but the application of Industry 4.0 technology also helps improve mining safety, so that GIG won the Good Mining Practice Ad blackata award and the Best Predicate for mining safety from the Ministry of Industry. Digitalization and automation in this production activity are also part of GIS's efforts to present lower carbon environmentally friendly building materials," said Reni Wulandari.

In the use case Operational Excellence & Sustainable Cement Plant at the Tuban Factory, SIG applies Advanced Process Control by PXP technology to support the stabilization and optimization of parameters in the cement production process. The technology, which has been implemented in the production process at Raw Mill 4 and finish mills 7 and 8 at the Tuban Factory, has been proven to have succeeded in increasing production capacity by up to 8%, as well as a decrease in electricity consumption by up to 4 kWH/ton cement.

To maintain product quality, GIS applies Advanced Quality Control technology starting from the process of sampling, analysis, and quality control automatically with the use of robots and machine learning. This technology has helped the Company in ensuring the quality of meal or raw materials for making terak and cement products in the program to reduce the peak factor. The application of this technology also contributes to reducing production costs by 4.3 percent.

Meanwhile, Waste Heat Recovery Power Generation is an innovation in the development of renewable energy by utilizing exhaust gas heat from the cement production process to electrical energy, thereby reducing electricity consumption by 5.2 percent or equivalent to reducing carbon emissions by 122.358 tons of CO2 / year.

The use case of Integrated Digitalization KOKOH implemented by PT Semen Gresik at the Rembang Factory, is the centralization of a digitalization program that has adopted Industry-based 4.0 technology. Innovations involving Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Databases, Industrial IOT (internet of things), GPS, M2M, Computer Network, and PLC technology, assist the Company in managing and integrating all data on each business process resulting in real-time dashboard & reporting, recommendations of optimal operating parameters and new digitization projects for profitability improvement.

The integrated operating pattern supported by Advanced Process Control technology, Critical Operating Parameter E-Performance, as well as the Industrial Diesel Oil (IDO) substitution system to the integrated Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), contributed to reducing carbon emissions by 4.7 percent, thermal energy efficiency by 3.1 percent, and electrical energy efficiency reaching 6.4 percent.

Reni Wulandari added that recently GIS also won the BUMN Technology Adoption Award 2024 category Cost Optimization from the BUMN Digital Forum (Fordigi) on the Company's initiative to digitize the production process in all factories owned by the Company.

"A series of awards achieved by GIS are proof of the spirit of innovation of GIS personnel who have been adaptive to accelerate industrial transformation and increase operational advantages that become SIG competitiveness and contribute to realizing sustainable development in Indonesia," said Reni Wulandari.
