Minister Of Transportation Is Furious With ODOL Trucks That Continue To Operate

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi admitted that he was angry with the condition of the obese truck or over-dimension overload (ODOL) which continues to operate in Indonesia.

Budi revealed that the trucks had promised to obey the principles since 2019. However, he said that the promise had not been kept.

"About the symptomatic odols, it's not just you, I'm also nervous. Since 2011 I took office, they have promised that 2019 they will obey the principles," Budi said at a press conference, quoted Wednesday, October 2.

However, continued Budi, from 2019 to 2022 trucks with excess loads have not complied with the rules.

The reason, said Budi, is that the cost or logistics expenditure will swell if more trucks are operated.

The message, continued Budi, was that he and the Ministry of PUPR agreed to take firm action against obese trucks that are still operating.

"He doesn't expect that there are so many damaged roads. Therefore, we and the Ministry of Public Works have agreed that they will come, not I can't afford it, but there must be one firm action against ODOL," he said.

"This means that those who are over-dimension, over size must be put in order," he continued.
