Minister Of Transportation Budi Karya: Using Trains To Soekarno-Hatta Airport Reduce Pollution And Free Of Traffic Jams

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi advised people to use trains if they headed to Soekarno-Hatta Airport, because they could increase travel time efficiency.

"Let's use the airport train. Apart from being on time, (taking the train to Soekarno-Hatta Airport) is also comfortable, reducing pollution and free of traffic jams," Budi Karya said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, September 30.

By using a train, continued Budi Karya, it can provide more comfort for passengers to the airport without having to experience traffic jams.

Therefore, he encouraged people to use the airport train if they headed to Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang.

"The transportation connectivity around Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is increasing," said the Minister of Transportation in a statement in Jakarta.

Airport service users can now easily move from the airport train, Kalayang, to the departure terminal.

"The airport train is from Manggarai to the Soekarno-Hatta Airport train station. Then passengers can use the kalayang train that connects all terminals. It is very easy and this can be reached from Bekasi and Depok," he explained.

The Minister of Transportation also hopes that there will be special prices for employees who work in airport areas to reduce the use of private vehicles.

"Of course the waiting time must be shortened and I hope there will be a special price for employees who work at the airport, because they routinely come here, so that they can reduce traffic to the airport," explained the Minister of Transportation.

The implementation of intermodal integration through the airport train, continued the Minister of Transportation, is a tangible manifestation of the commitment of the government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in building connectivity and building mass public transportation.

"With the integration of various modes of transportation, it is hoped that it can increase connectivity, reduce congestion, reduce pollution and provide comfort for the community," he said.
