Jokowi Inaugurates Copper Smelter And Mulia Metal Amman Mineral

JAKARTA - President Joko Widod inaugurated the smelter of PT Amman Mineral Internasional Tbk in Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) today, Monday, September 23.

"By saying bismillah, I inaugurate the copper smelter and refining the precious metal Amman this morning," said Joko Widodo, quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Monday, September 23.

In his remarks, Jokowi detailed that this smelter will have a production capacity of 220,000 tons of copper cathode, 18 tons of gold, 55 tons of silver and 850,000 tons of sulfate acid.

"I hope that the operation of this smelter can provide as many multiplier effects as possible for people who create jobs," he said.

Not only that, but the Head of State also hopes that there will be an increase in Gross Regional Domestic Product (GDP) for NTB Province, especially West Sumbaw.

Jokowi said that Indonesia's gross economic domestic product as much as 56 percent relies on domestic consumption.

As a country with copper reserves that are included in the world's top 7, he wants to change this pattern with an economy that relies on production.

"We want the world's future copper production needs to depend on our country, Indonesia. Whatever, cathode sheets, whether cables, copper foils, everything we can produce here we will do. No longer export raw materials or raw materials," said Jokowi.
