JAKARTA - Indonesia recorded an increase in 13 rankings in the UN E-Government Survey 2024.

It was recorded that in 2022, Indonesia was ranked 77th and then ranked 64th in 2024 out of a total of 193 UN member states.

Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan RB) Abdullah Azwar Anas said that this achievement could not be separated from the government's efforts to develop and implement an electronic-based government system (SPBE).

Anas assessed that this achievement not only shows the progress of the digital transformation of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, but will also accelerate economic growth.

"This is a very extraordinary development. There has been a significant increase in our electronic government ranking at the United Nations, up 43 rankings. Now from 2022, the Coordinating Minister for 2023-2024 we have increased by 13 rankings. So, in fact, our digital ecosystem has an extraordinary increase," said Anas in the agenda of the 2024 Regional Digitalization Acceleration and Expansion National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas P2DD) in Jakarta, Monday, September 23.

Based on the results of a survey conducted by the United Nations in previous years, Indonesia's ranking showed a significant increase.

For the first time participating in 2008, Indonesia was ranked 106 to 2018 at 107.

Through the commitment of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in the form of stipulation of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 95 of 2018 concerning SPBE there has been a significant increase in 2020 increasing to rank 88.

Then, in 2022 it will increase again to rank 77 and in 2024 it will be ranked 64th. Since the implementation of the SPBE policy, Indonesia has increased significantly to 43 rankings, which was originally 107 in 2018 to rank 64 in 2024.

The UN E-Government Survey 2024 this time carries the theme 'Accelerating Digital Transformation for Sustainable Development' which aims to help member countries identify their respective strengths and challenges in the implementation of the digital government.

Specifically for 2024, the survey included a strategy for implementing artificial intelligence or artificial intelligence in improving the quality of public services.

In this survey, Indonesia scored 0.7991, which put Indonesia for the first time in the Very High E-Government Development Index (VHEGDI) category.

This survey assesses the performance of the state based on three main dimensions, namely the Online Service Index (OSI), Telecommunication Infrastructure (Telecommunication Infrastructure Index/TII) and Human Resources (Human Capital Index/HCI).

In each of these dimensions, Indonesia shows a fairly good performance with a score of 0.8035 for OSI which shows that many government services can now be accessed digitally easily by the public.

In addition, Indonesia won a score of 0.8645 for TII, which reflects the strengthening of networks and internet access throughout the region, including remote areas. Meanwhile, for HCI, Indonesia has a score of 0.7293 which is already above the world average and the Asian region.

"Therefore, thank you, Mr. Coordinating Minister, the Minister of Finance who continues to encourage how this can be coordinated properly," he said.
