JAKARTA - PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) and PT Kereta Api Logistik (KAI Logistik) signed an agreement on coal loading and unloading services at the Batu Bara Kramasan Terminal.

Director of Human Resources (HR) PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Suherman said the signing of this cooperation agreement was part of efforts to increase PTBA's coal transportation capacity.

With coal reserves of 2.98 billion tons and 5.81 billion tons of resources, PTBA is one of the largest coal wealth managers in Indonesia. Increasing transport capacity is a strategic step to accelerate the monetization of coal reserves.

"This cooperation is expected to increase the reliability of coal transportation, so that it can support the company's efforts to provide energy without stopping for the country," said Suherman, Saturday, September 21.

Previously, PTBA had agreed to synergize with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI in the development of coal transportation related to Tanjung Enim - Kramasan on October 6, 2023.

The transportation of coal related to Tanjung Enim - Kramasan will increase the carrying capacity of PTBA coal to 20 million tons per year. The facilities and infrastructure for rail transportation modes are prepared by PT KAI. Meanwhile, the dock facilities at Kramasan Terminal were built by KAI Logistics.

PTBA itself has conducted a groundbreaking of coal handling facilities in Tanjung Enim on December 30, 2023 to support the development of coal transportation for the Tanjung Enim - Kramasan relation.

On the same occasion, the President Director of KAI Logistics, Fredi Fermansyah, said that his party welcomed the collaboration and synergy with PTBA, especially in optimizing the use of coal in South Sumatra.

"Through the Unloading of the Kramasan Coal Terminal, KAI Logistics will carry out loading and unloading activities of at least 20 million tons of coal volume belonging to PTBA," said Fredi Firmansyah.

In supporting coal loading activities at Kramasan Terminal, KAI Logistics ensures the readiness and reliability of infrastructure including the Train Unloading System with a capacity of 3,000 tons per hour per TULS, with a maximum stockpile area of 480,000 tons. Furthermore, the Kramasan Coal Unloading Terminal is also able to serve 20 trains with a series of 60 coal carriages per day.

"Not only increasing capacity and capability, especially in mining logistics, through this collaboration, KAI Logistics is committed to continuing to support government programs, especially in the use of energy resources to provide national energy," concluded Fredi.
