Bank Mandiri Allocates 15 Percent Of Capex To Strengthen Cyber Security

JAKARTA - PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk allocates capital expenditure (capex) for information technology development and security (IT) of around IDR 3 trillion or 15 percent of the total capex this year.

This value is three times the standard required.

Vice President of Digital Retail Banking Mandiri, Harry Sofri Putranda said the capex allocation was part of the company's commitment to ensure the security of customers from cyber attacks or cyberattacks that often target the Bank Mandiri digital banking data system center.

"At Bank Mandiri itself it is for expenditure fees or investment costs for IT itself, around 15 percent we have indeed allocated for cybersecurity. It shows indeed how serious and serious Bank Mandiri is in this case to ensure customer security," he said in a media briefing, in Jakarta, Thursday, September 19.

Harry said Bank Mandiri's digital security system received cyber attacks or cyberattacks reaching more than 1 million times per day

"Based on our statistical data, there are more than 1 million attempted burglary. Trying to attack Bank Mandiri's digital system per day," he said.

Therefore, Harry said cybersecurity, this is something that cannot be underestimated. Moreover, he said, cyber attacks or cyberattacks continued to increase.

The issue of cybersecurity is fast again, especially AI and others. This is something we see that cannot be underestimated. Cyberattack has greatly increased its growth by 38 percent compared to 2023," he said.

Bank Mandiri, he continued, will continue to strengthen digital security and technology (IT) systems.

A number of steps have been taken to maximize monitoring through the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of the Group which focuses on internal cybersecurity.

"Daily to day, they monitor and make preventive measures from various incoming attacks," he explained.
