Towards The End Of His Term Of Office, Erick Thohir Says There Are Four Strategic Projects That Have Not Been Completed

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir revealed that there are four of the 88 BUMN strategic projects that will not be completed during his leadership.

As is known, the government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will change to Prabowo Subianto on October 20. This means that Jokowi and the ministers of the Advanced Indonesia cabinet have approximately one month remaining.

"Of the 88 (BUMN strategic projects), 84 should be completed," he said when met at Mandiri Digital Tower, Jakarta, Wednesday, September 18.

Erick revealed that there are four strategic SOE projects that will not be completed during his leadership. One of them is the merger of BUMN works.

According to Erick, the SOE's planned merger letter of work has been submitted to the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono. However, the letter has not been signed by Basuki.

"(BUMN) works (still) waiting for a letter. But even if the letter goes down, it's not too fast (before the change of government)," he said.

In addition to BUMN works, Erick said that the strategic BUMN projects that will also not be completed during his leadership are looking for new investors to replace the position of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk and PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI as shareholders of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI).

"BSI is looking for a strategic partner, it's just that the BSI is already very large. So it's a bit difficult for BSI," he said.

Furthermore, continued Erick, the restructuring of pharmaceutical SOEs will also not be completed at the end of his term of office. Even so, Erick is still trying to complete the restructuring immediately.

"Farma already has a way out, just sign, you can (take it to be completed)," he said.

Although he could not complete 88 SOE strategic projects, Erick said he was grateful that at least 84 projects could be completed during his leadership.
