Anindya Bakrie Designated As Chairman Of Kadin Through Munaslub, Arsjad Rasjid Lengser?

JAKARTA - Anindya Bakrie, the son of conglomerate Aburizal Bakrie, was appointed as General Chair (Ketum) of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) through the Extraordinary National Conference or Munaslub process which was held in the Kuningan area, South Jakarta, on Saturday, September 14, 2024.

The handover of the position was carried out by AM Nurdin Halid who was appointed to lead the Kadin Munaslub session.

"With this, on behalf of all participants of the 2024 Kadin Extraordinary Conference, hand over the Chamber of Commerce and Industry to the elected General Chairperson Anindya Bakrie to be distributed to all corners of the country," said Nurdin as quoted from the video upload on the official Instagram account @anindyabakrie, Saturday, September 14, 2024.

In the short video, Anindya appears to have received the Kadin flag which was handed over by Nurdin.

"Thank you for the trust and I will hand over this padaka and the banners of Kadin throughout the country," he replied.

On the same day, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Board of Management emphasized that the holding of the Munaslub was a violation of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Articles of Association (AD/ART) which was ratified through Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 18 of 2022.

Moreover, a number of the provincial Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Extraordinary Members (ALB) did not meet the requirements to propose the implementation of the Munaslub.

The rejection of the violation of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's AD/ART rules has also been voiced by the majority of the Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Navy members of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

A total of 21 out of 35 provincial Kadin throughout Indonesia have refused and stated that the holding of the Munaslub violates the rules of the organization that have been mutually agreed upon.

The chairman of the North Maluku Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Umar Lessy, expressed his support for Arsjad's leadership even though he had given up his position some time ago.

"The Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Arsjad Rasjid, has received approval to be temporarily unable to be temporarily approved by all regional Kadin general chairmen and the Extraordinary Association," said Umar.

"This is in accordance and does not violate the provisions of Article 5 of Law no. 1 of 1987 concerning Kadin in conjunction with Article 14 AD Kadin. We believe that this decision was taken to maintain the neutrality and integrity of the Kadin organization," he continued.

It is known that Arsjad still has an obligation to become Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry until 2026. This is a decision when he is elected by acclamation in 2021.
