The 2025 KKP Budget Is Considered Minimal, Commission IV Of The DPR: If There Is Illegal Fishing, Don't Blame It

JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sudin, highlighted the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) which did not get an additional budget for the 2025 fiscal year (TA). Previously, the KKP received a 2025 budget ceiling of IDR 6.22 trillion.

Sudin assessed that, with the absence of additional budget for next year, the KKP would not be blamed if there were cases of massive illegal fishing in the coming year.

Bearing in mind, the Directorate General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision (PSDKP) on duty does not have the flexibility to take action or prevent illegal fishing due to a limited budget.

"So, later Mr. Victor doesn't have to go around (monitoring illegal fishing) afraid that he will run out of fuel. In the PSDKP exam, the screen is still 28 days, so later if there is a massive illegal fishing we can't blame PSDKP," said the Sub-Department in Commission IV Working Meeting to discuss the adjustment of RKA K/L TA 2025 according to the discussion of RKA K/L TA 2025 according to the discussion of Banggar at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, September 12.

Before discussing illegal fishing, the Sub-Department initially read out the proposal for an additional KKP budget that did not get the blessing of the DPR RI Budget Agency (Banggar).

"(The budget) for the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Mr. Trenggono, don't laugh first, amounting to Rp6.22 trillion, there is no additional APBN," he said.

Thus, the KKP does not receive an additional budget for the 2025 FY and the budget allocation allocation is in accordance with what is stated in Book II of the Financial Note of the 2025 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget Draft (RAPBN), amounting to Rp6.22 trillion.

On the same occasion, the Sub-Department also said that the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) also did not get an additional budget for 2025.

According to Sudin, when there is a national park problem that if it is not maintained and protected animals die from lack of food to poaching, later the Ministry of Environment and Forestry cannot be blamed for this matter.

Because, he said, the budget obtained by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry was limited.

"So, if for example there are animals that are protected, others die from lack of food, illegal hunting, we cannot blame the Ministry of Environment and Forestry because the budget is running low," he said.
