The IKN VVIP Airport Pacu Runway Project Is 2,100 Meters, Targeted To Be Completed Tonight

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono conveyed the latest progress on the construction of a runway or runway for VVIP Airport in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan.

Basuki said that currently the construction of the VVIP IKN Airport runway has reached around 2,100 meters (m) of the 2,200 m long requirement.

"Now it's 2,100 (meters) longer on the basis than 2,200 m needed. So, I think hopefully this afternoon or tonight it can be 2,200," said Basuki when met by reporters at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, September 9.

The Acting (Plt) Head of the IKN Authority added that his party had also completed taxiway work and airport aprons a few days ago.

"At the same time at his headquarters, it started to be made three days ago, the taxiway is also finished, the apron has been completed," he said.

According to Basuki, the completion of the air infrastructure will support the activities of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) which is planned to have an office in IKN starting Friday, September 13.

"I think that on August 17 yesterday (the basic infrastructure) we were able to, now we can and are ready. Hopefully, the airport can be accommodated," he added.

Previously, the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi said that the construction of VVIP Airport in IKN had reached more than 1,900 m.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Transportation Bud after directly checking the progress of the VVIP Airport construction at IKN, East Kalimantan, Sunday, September 8.

"The construction of the runway per day has reached 1,975 m. This is still on our target. In the near future it will be completed up to 2,200 meters," he said in an official statement, Monday, September 9.
