Surabaya Immigration Ready To Install Autogate At Juanda Airport

JAKARTA - The Surabaya Immigration Office is ready to install an autogate to facilitate immigration inspection procedures for people who enter and also leave Indonesia.

Head of the Surabaya Immigration Office Ramdhani said the installation of autogates was carried out at the terminal entrance and exit, such as at Juanda International Airport.

He explained that the purpose and purpose of installing the autogate at Juanda Airport was considered a solution to deal with the tightness of passengers.

"There will be dozens of autogates installed. The type of Autogate that will be used in Surabaya is type 2 step installed 10 units in the departure area and 18 units at arrival," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, September 7.

Ramdhani explained the preparations, procurement of devices, and the construction of civilians related to the installation of autogates which will begin in the near future and start testing later this year.

"Testing on December 28, 2024, interactive API data (checkin from abroad) will be directly checked by the system before entering the transportation and before entering Indonesian territory," he said.

Head of the Immigration Inspection Center Yudhistira Yudha Permana revealed that licensing arrangements including security related to the working team are being prepared.

He ensured that plans and preparations for the installation of autogates at Terminal 2 of Juanda Airport also needed support from all parties.

"The process of preparing and installing autogates to go live is targeted to be completed by the end of December 2024. Various technical aspects such as layout, network and electrical connections, weights, and spatial arrangements to maximize autogate use are also being discussed," he said.

Yudha emphasized that the technical team from synergy had conducted location surveys and coordination related to installation preparations.

It is estimated that the preparation, procurement, civil work, and testing process will be completed on December 28, 2024.

"It has been agreed that the installation of the autogate will be carried out in parallel at both arrival and departure terminals. Working hours that cause noise and dust can only be done at night until dawn, seeing the operational conditions of the airport from 23:00 WIB to 04:00 WIB," he said.

According to him, autogates are one of the various immigration inspection facilities that already exist in Indonesia, namely passengers, both foreigners and Indonesian citizens, will pass through the automatic crossing gate.

To cross it, a passport and fingerprint scanning procedure is needed available on the autogate equipment. Apart from Juanda Airport, autogates have been presented at terminals 2 and 3 of Soekarno Hatta Airport.

The goal is none other than to minimize the crossing of fake documents and the escape of passengers who were on the penalty list in 2018. However, due to the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, autogates must be disabled in 2020.
