PLN And HDF Energy Cooperation In Hydrogen Ecosystem Development In Indonesia

PT PLN (Persero) signed a memorandum of understanding or Momerandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hydrogene De France (HDF) Energy to explore the development of the hydrogen ecosystem in the context of preparing a roadmap strategy for PLN in Indonesia at the IISF 2024 forum.

This collaboration between PLN and HDF Energy aims to support the sustainable energy transition in Indonesia, where hydrogen is projected to be one of the alternative energies.

"Through this collaboration, PLN will develop a power plant that combines renewable energy sources with energy storage in the form of hydrogen," said PLN President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, Saturday, September 7.

Director of Corporate Planning and Business Development of PLN, Hartanto Wibowo said, renewable hydrogen is expected to dominate two-thirds of global demand by 2050. With abundant renewable energy resources, Indonesia can become a leader in the hydrogen economy.

PLN is spearheading its role in hydrogen development, prompting strategic initiatives to accelerate the use of hydrogen in energy transitions. We have built green hydrogen plant (GHP) at 22 generating sites, one of which is the first GHP in Southeast Asia to use geothermal energy," Hartanto said.

Meanwhile, Mathieu Geze, Director of HDF Energy for Asia as well as President Director of PT HDF Energy Indonesia, appreciates PLN's steps in developing alternative energy in the form of hydrogen which is realized through cooperation with it.
