PLN NP And Chinese Companies Ready To Work On Bayu Power Plants

PLN Nusantara Power (PLN NP) cooperates with a company from China, namely Shandong Electric Power Engineering Consulting Institute Corp., LTd. (SDEPCI) to cooperate in the development of Bayu Power Plants (PLTB) in Indonesia and abroad.

SDEPCI is a subsidiary of State Power Investment Corp., Ltd. China which is a company of Fortune Global 500.

"Through this strategic collaboration, we have succeeded in mapping the potential for wind utilization into PLTB which reaches 1,000 megawatts (MW) spread across 5 locations. We hope to be able to maximize the potential of other winds in different locations," said PLN Nusantara Power President Director Ruly Firmansyah, Saturday 7 September.

Ruly said, PLN NP in collaboration with SDEPCI will work together in conducting studies, exploring opportunities, and developing in the early stages of developing the PLTB project.

Muhammad Reza, Director of Business and Commerce Development of PLN NP who signed the MoU with SDEPCI stated that this collaboration will be valid for 2 (two) years and will have a positive impact on PLN NP.

"This international synergy is a bridge for PLN NP in obtaining knowledge, skills, skills, and experience from foreign companies that have experience in PLTB development," explained Reza.

PLN Nusantara Power through its subsidiary, PLN Nusantara Renewables (PLN NR) in collaboration with Total Energies, Adaro Power, is preparing the Tanah Laut Bayu Power Plant (PLTB). Located in Tanah Laut Regency, South Kalimantan, Tanah Laut PLTB will be the first wind-powered power plant project in the PLN Group portfolio on the island of Kalimantan.

This PLTB has a capacity of 70 Megawatts (MW) consisting of 11 turbines with a capacity of 6.6 MW each. Not only the main generator, a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facility with a capacity of 10 MW/10MWh is also prepared to overcome the intermittency of electricity production when PLTB operates. This makes Tanah Laut PLTB the first hybrid power plant in Indonesia, which is wind-based.

This project also adds to the portfolio of PLN NP EBT generators through PLN Nusantara Renewables, which previously succeeded in developing the Cirata Floating PLTS 145 MWac, synchronization of the IKN 10 MW PLTS continued to 50 MW, as well as various other renewable energy projects whose progress continues to be accelerated, such as the Tembeksion Floating PLTS and Batang Toru hydropower plant.
