JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Daop 1 has arranged operating patterns for eight long-distance train trips departing from Gambir Station, Central Jakarta. This was done following the visit of Pope Francis in Jakarta.

Jakarta's Daop 1 Public Relations Manager Ixfan Hendriwintoko said the train, which had not stopped at Jatinegara Station, would be stopped at Jatinegara Station.

"When normal trains departing from Gambir Station do not stop at Jatinegara Station, but specifically on September 4 and 5, 2024, train departures between 08.00 WIB to 16.00 WIB will stop at Jatinegara Station to serve passenger rides," he said in an official statement, Tuesday, September 3.

Ixfan said the traffic engineering was carried out in order to ensure the smooth visits of Pope Francis' academics in Indonesia. One of them is the holy mass which will be held on Thursday, September 5.

"This pattern of operation arrangement is carried out to avoid delays in prospective passengers due to traffic jams around Monas and roads to Gambir Station," he explained.

Even so, Ixfan said that the train departure time from Gambir Station did not change.

"It is hoped that customers can avoid the risk of congestion that may occur due to the diversion of traffic flow to Gambir Station and have the option to depart from Jatinegara Station," he said.
