Pertamina NRE And Guma Cooperate To Develop Gas To Power In South Africa

JAKARTA - Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE) and Guma signed a Joint Study Agreement (JSA) or joint study related to the potential for gas to power development in the South African region.

The signing took place in the middle of the international event, the Indonesia Africa Forum (IAF) in Nusa Dua Bali on Monday 2!September and was carried out by the Chief Executive Officer of Pertamina NRE, John Anis and Executive Chairman of Guma, Robert Gumede.

John Anis explained that this collaboration aims to collaborate in deepening and joint studies in an effort to develop gas to power in the South African Region.

"This step is also part of Pertamina NRE's commitment to carry out its global expansion," said John, quoted on Tuesday, September 3.

This collaboration is a concrete form of cooperation between the south-south, which is the spirit of the Indonesian-African Forum initiated by the Indonesian government, starting with a state visit from the President of the Republic of Indonesia to Africa in August 2023 to explore the potential for collaboration between Indonesia and Africa.

After that, on November 17, 2023, Pertamina signed a memorandum of understanding for the first time with Guma.

Pertamina NRE's success in completing and operating the Java-1 Steam Gas Power Plant (PLTGU) mega project is a large capital of Pertamina NRE so that it is trusted by global partners to develop similar technology.

The Java-1 PLTGU has even become the largest PLTGU in Southeast Asia, which currently has the latest combine cycle technology.

"Of course, with this myriad of experiences, especially success in Java-1, Pertamina NRE is the right partner for Guma to develop a clean energy ecosystem in South Africa. At the same time, this is Pertamina NRE's journey to support the mission of world countries to achieve net zero emissions," continued John Anis.
