There Is A Discourse On Prabowo Forming A Housing Ministry, Secretary General Of PUPR: I Don't Know Yet

There has been a discourse on the establishment of the Ministry of Housing in the era of the elected Presidential Government Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

Thus, the housing issue will be separated from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR).

Secretary General of the Ministry of PUPR Mohammad Zainal Fatah said that the issue of ministry separation has not been discussed in the scope of the Ministry of PUPR.

During this transition period, Prabowo himself had appointed his younger brother, Hashim Djojohadikusumo as the elected Chair of the presidential housing task force.

"I don't know yet. Maybe with other leaders (there has been a discussion)," said Zainal at the DPR RI Building, Jakarta, Monday, September 2.

Even so, there are already scenarios related to the separation of the Ministry of Public Works (PU) from Housing.

Later, the government itself will also design a Strategic Plan (Renstra) as a development design for one-term government.

"Because, right, what part of housing development is the intervention. There is constructive physical intervention, there is financing. Because earlier, right, one of the big problems is access to financing," he said.

In the midst of this separation issue, the Ministry of PUPR's budget for 2025 decreased to IDR 75.63 trillion from IDR 140 trillion in 2024.

Zainal Fatah admitted that he did not know whether the reason for this budget reduction had anything to do with the plan to separate the ministry or not.

"We don't know (there is a relationship or not). But, as stated by the Minister (Basuki) in the past, when the cabinet was new in 2014, the figure was roughly like that. But usually the budget is minimal. The head of commission V is also the same because it is prepared for the next government because the priority is different. In my opinion, this is the mechanism for managing the budget needed," he said.

The presidential candidate (candidate) number 02 Prabowo Subianto and vice presidential candidate (cawapres) Gibran Rakabuming Raka have a program to be run in the upcoming government.

The plan is that Prabowo-Gibran will build 3 million houses.

Related to this, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono believes that the budget allocation to realize the program will be greater than the 1 million houses in the current government of Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"There has been no discussion yet, in the past Pak Jokowi, we could achieve more than 1 million houses. If there is a program of 3 million houses, yes, I think it is good, but it has not been discussed," Basuki told reporters at the PUPR Ministry office, Jakarta, quoted Thursday, March 14.
