Government Reveals RI-Africa Cooperation Value Reaches 3.5 Billion US Dollars

JAKARTA - Director General of Asia, Pacific and African Affairs (Dirjen Aspasaf) of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Abdul Kadir Jailanidi conveyed that the total value of Indonesia's cooperation with African countries in the second Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) 2024 rose significantly to 3.5 billion US dollars compared to the first in 2018 which generated 568 million US dollars.

"The increase in the number of cooperation commitments is a clear proof of the strong trust between Indonesia and African countries," Abdul said in his statement, Sunday, September 1.

Abdul conveyed several important achievements from the IAF II including the signing of a number of Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) and strategic cooperation agreements, namely the development of geothermal energy between PT PLN and TANOSCO Tanzania.

As well as the Master Agreement related to the cooperation in health technology transfer between Biofarma and the Atlantic Lifescience Ghana and Letter of Intent (LOI) between PT Dirgantara Indonesia and AD Trade which facilitates the purchase and maintenance of aircraft by Congo and Senegal.

For information, the 2nd IAF will be held simultaneously with the High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLM MSP) on September 1, 2024.

"IAF II is a follow-up of the IAF I which was carried out in 2018 and will be opened directly by the President of the Republic of Indonesia", he said.

Abdul explained that the IAF II not only brought together more than 1,400 participants consisting of heads of state, ministers, entrepreneurs and academics but also became a place to create real partnerships in the four main sectors of cooperation in the fields of energy, food security, health and minerals.

In addition to the aspect of economic cooperation, Abdul said that IAF II is also a platform to revive Bandung Spirit, which is an important legacy from the 1955 Asia-Africa Conference, which is a milestone as well as an important foundation for Indonesia-Africa relations.
