Three Official Airlines Will Serve Umrah Flights Directly From Kualanamu

PT Angkasa Pura Aviasi as the manager of Kualanamu International Airport Deli Serdang said, as many as three airlines officially served Umrah flights directly to the holy land from Kualanamu.

"Now there are three airlines flying from Kualanamu to Jeddah and Medina, namely Lion Air, Citilink, and Saudia Airlines," said President Director of PT Angkasa Pura Aviasi Achmad Rifai, in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, Saturday.

This, he continued, went according to the plan of the Saudia Airlines airline to start operating today, automatically increasing the frequency of flights on the Kualanamu - Jeddah and Kualanamu - Medina route to go home.

It was recorded that the Saudia Airlines SV 875 with a Boeing 777 plane on the Jeddah - Kualanamu route arrived at Kualanamu Deli Serdang International Airport, Saturday (31/8). Previously, Saudia Airlines SV 873 and SV 877 routes Kualanamu - Medina, as well as SV 875 and SV 879 route Kualanamu - Jeddah using a Boeing B777 aircraft operated on August 31, 2024.

"Saudia Airlines has a flight frequency four times a week," said Achmad.

Kualanamu International Airport flight data as of August 31, 2024, recorded that 16 domestic routes are served by seven airlines with 355 frequencies every week.

As for internationally, there are five routes served by seven airlines with 179 frequencies every week.

"Saudia Airlines SV 877 flew back from Kualanamu to Jeddah today carrying as many as 334 passengers," said Achmad.

Head of the Medan Regional II Airport Authority Office, Sokhib Al Rokhman, stated that the three airlines were officially operating with Umrah pilgrims from Kualanamu.

"First there is Lion Air on the Kulanamu - Medina route, second Citilink on the Kualanamu - Madinah and Kualanamu - Jeddah routes, and Saudia Airlines on the Kualanamu - Madinah and Kualanamu - Jeddah routes," he said.

The presence of these three airlines, he said, shows the high interest of the community, especially in North Sumatra Province to perform Umrah to the holy land.

"The public's interest in Umrah is high because the waiting list for the pilgrimage in North Sumatra has now reached 20 years," said Sokhib.
